Emperor Qin’s Son and the One Thousand
Scorpions
Tim Hey
n the Qin Dynasty there was a group of people called Mongols. They were attacking China all the time.
Then there was a ruler called Emperor Qin the first Emperor of China, and he said to his soldiers “let’s
make a wall to defend China from the Mongols.” The first wall was made of compressed earth and it was
thirty two feet high, fifteen feet wide and four thousand miles long. There were strong watch towers for
watching where the Mongols were. Emperor Qin sent three hundred thousand soldiers to command
prisoners to build the great wall. The soldiers fired rocks and arrows to the attacking Mongols in the middle of
constructing the wall. Emperor Qin died because he was too old after constructing the wall. So Emperor Qin’s
son took over Emperor Qin and became the Emperor.

Emperor Qin’s son was a strong kid. He went to a competition in Beijing and had to lift fifty tones in weight.
He was so strong and he lifted it with just two fingers and he won. The prize was one thousand tiny scorpions.
The scorpions were bright yellow and their stingers were poisonous. He went to a special class and he learned
how to communicate with scorpions. His teacher was Miss Sypiler. She knew how to speak all animal languages,
English and Chinese. The scorpions were trained by the boy. The boy also played board games and tag with the
scorpions. After two years the Mongols came for treasure in Northern China. Emperor Qin’s son sent three
hundred thousand soldiers to fight the Mongols. One year later two hundred thousand and eight hundred had
died and Emperor Qin’s son was unhappy. “I’m going to let out my scorpions to fight you!” said Emperor Qin’s
son. By now the scorpions were all trained and ready to fight. The Mongols came again and this time the boy
used scorpion language and told the scorpions to go around the back and walk on whips of the Mongols then
stand on their arms somewhere and sting them. There were sixty one thousand and one hundred Mongols but
sixty one thousand died in one day of fighting because of the powerful scorpions. The Mongols lost and the
scorpions won, and Emperor Qin’s son’s team all shouted “YAY!” Then Genghis Khan the king of Mongols
came. They fought again. Now all of Genghis Khan’s soldiers were dead, so he decided to buy Han horses the
super horses for fighting. Then they battled again, and still Genghis Khan lost. Then Emperor Qin’s son wrote a
letter to Genghis Khan and it said, “Come to me and have a discussion”. The next day Genghis Khan came to
Emperor Qin’s son’s castle and had a discussion. They had a long discussion. They discussed not to have a war
again. So they shared the things that Chinese had and the Mongols had. They decided to be friends and the
Chinese and Mongols lived together peacefully ever after.
